Da Colônia de Villa Rica à cidade de Ouro Preto: uma análise histórica da evolução urbana. O estudo da morfologia urbana visa compreender a atual conformação e evolução da cidade através de um processo que combina a análise da dimensão físico-construtiva com a análise cultural e temporal. Este tipo de estudo tem-se deparado com diferentes abordagens que, durante o século XX, deram origem a duas escolas de pensamento distintas mas não opostas, que, para alguns pontos específicos, se integram e se complementam nos aspectos interdisciplinares, que derivam da formação acadêmica de seus fundadores. Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a forma urbana da cidade de Ouro Preto, no estado brasileiro de Minas Gerais, desde sua fundação até os dias de hoje utilizando o método proposto pela escola inglesa, mas, ao mesmo tempo, destacar aspectos complementares ao método da escola italiana. A análise focará nos principais momentos evolutivos da cidade, reconectando a evolução da forma urbana aos acontecimentos históricos que marcaram a história do Brasil desde a época colonial.

From the Colony of Villa Rica to the city of Ouro Preto: a historical analysis of urban Evolution. The study of urban morphology aims to understand the current conformation and evolution of the city through a process that combines the analysis of the physical-constructive dimension with cultural and temporal analysis. This type of study has been faced with different approaches which, during the twentieth century, gave rise to two different but not opposite schools of thought, which, for some specific points, integrate and complement each other in the interdisciplinary aspects, which derive from the academic training of their founders. This work aims to analyze the urban form of the city of Ouro Preto, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, from its foundation until today using the method proposed by the English school, but, at the same time, highlight complementary aspects with the method of the Italian school. The analysis will focus on the main evolutionary moments of the city by reconnecting the evolution of the urban form to the historical events that marked the history of Brazil since the colonial era.
